We are sent these questions so very often, I thought it would be a good idea to just post them here (among several other places) for all to see!
More often than not, those that are sending us guns for bluing are private individuals. It is always a concern as to whether or not they are allowed to ship to us directly or if they have to have a gunsmith ship their gun to us.
Legally, the gun is your personal possession (so far, anyways!) You have every right to ship it to someone – as long as the person/business to whom you are shipping it has an FFL, or Federal Firearms License, which we do.
Now, here’s the clencher! The person who receives the gun HAS to, by LAW ship the gun back to you directly or to another FFL holder. So, for example, say you were going away for a month and we were intending to ship the gun back to you during that time. We could not ship it back to your cousin or a neighbor. It has to go directly back to you, because it is your personal property.
I hope this clears things up a bit!
Have a fantastic day!

Hey I have a question for you.
I have recently picked up a US Rifle Model of 1917 from the CMP. Great rifle but is has been CHROMED…
Can you remove the chrome and nickle base and prep it for blueing or will I need to have the chrome/nickle removed before I can send it on to you for a reblue?
Thanks.
Lawrence
